WORLD MISSIONS LAST FRONTIER…the USA

Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” John 4:35.

Righteousness exalteth a nation, but, sin is a reproach to any people” Proverbs 14:34.

It would be difficult to recall how many times my Third World brethren have reminded me that they pray fervently for America. For so long, the United States has been the role model to the entire world for hope, justice, and freedom. The statue of Liberty is more than a symbol; it is a bold statement!

My brethren in the Third World who struggle with poverty, disease; sometimes political oppression, and often times, religious persecution, have taken great comfort in knowing that there were strong American churches, with committed Christians holding them up in prayer and financial support. Thus, they have prayed for God’s continued favor upon their base, America. Things are changing now, and my brethren see it and they are grieved. Certainly, Satan understands the strategy; “Cut off the head, and the body will die.” In this, the most critical hour in human history, does anyone wonder why America is the target of an all out assault from Hell?

Our Lord Jesus Christ commissioned the church to preach the Gospel to every creature. The early church, in one generation carried the message of Christ to their world; Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth. The one thing that every sect of Christianity holds in common, is their desire to spread their message throughout the world; thus, fulfilling the “Great Commission” as they interpret it .

The first century church was obsessed with their mission to reach the lost. The greatest thinkers and leaders of Christianity have been “evangelicals”. Many have felt that the reason for Great Britain’s one-time world prominence was the blessings of God, because their “evangelical churches” and zealous preachers purposed to spread the Gospel worldwide. It used to be said; “The sun never sets upon the British Empire.”

God has blessed the United States with religious freedom and prosperity to enable our churches to evangelize the world. One can assume this is the reason for the present problems suffered by Great Britain and the United States. (1) Satan targets those who are commissioned and who are purposeful. (2) When a people favored of God to fulfill a mission lose sight of that mission they lose the blessings of the Lord. One of the first lessons I learned as a child in Sunday School was, when Israel was faithful to God, they were favored and prospered; when they backslid, they were carried into bondage.

There has to be a reason why, in just one decade, the USA has gone from a 230 billion dollar surplus in our national treasury to a 13 trillion dollar deficit! It is unimaginable that China and Saudi Arabia are bankrolling our economy. Our enemies now hold the mortgage on our country! To put it in terms that one can more easily understand; “how secure would you feel if your sworn enemy held the mortgage on your house?”

Today, less than 8% of England’s population attend regular church services, and most of those are immigrants. The same phenomenon of falling away is occurring in the USA. One should not be deceived by the numbers who attend the mega-churches; most of which have compromised the purity and power of the Gospel for numbers and money, for what can be called the “nickels and noses doctrine,” nickels in the offering and noses in the pews. It is a fact that many of their members are drawn by the “big show,” and they like it that way; they can get lost in the crowd and avoid commitment. The apostle Paul warned; “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away” (II Timothy 3:1 and 5).

Both England and the USA lead the world in its march toward Armageddon. Arguably, there are other nations whose stated agendas are godless, idolatrous, and some more openly evil; but, none have known such blessings of God and fallen so far, and none possess the potential to do good or evil as much as the USA and England.

From rock music, the most evil movies, evolution, and every diabolical “ism” plaguing the world, most have their origins in back-slidden England and the USA. From where did the original “rock ‘n rollers” come; Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard… the USA? From where did the next wave come, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones,… England? The jury is in, it is indisputable, rock music, drugs, and the new morality go hand in hand.

The former governor of Minnesota, Jesse Ventura said recently on CNN TV, “rock’n’roll” and marijuana go together; since rock is legal, the USA should legalize marijuana.” Is that profound reasoning, or what, and from a former governor?

Remember during the turbulent 1970’s when the progressives were then discussing the merits of the “new morality,” preachers across America, from pulpits of every denomination, rose up and called it the “old immorality” in a new dress. Today, for the most part, the pulpits are silent. Hundreds of ministers leave the ministry every week. Across America churches are closing and many that remain open are only managing to barely exist. Some scholars are already calling this “the post-Christian era” in the Western World, (the Americas and Europe).

It is difficult to believe that one of America’s military academies, the Air Force Academy in Colorado, has just established a worship center for Wiccan witches, so that officers and cadets who are practitioners of witchcraft will have equal opportunities to worship as do Christians and Jews.

Incredibly, the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court was removed from his position and dis-barred for refusing to remove a display of the Ten Commandments from the Alabama Supreme Court building; when in the same building there are other various monuments and displays, even those of Greek gods and godesses. It seems that little has changed since that first Christmas; more than two thousand years later, there is still no room for Christ.

Read the documents of America’s founding fathers. Walk through the great monuments and federal buildings in Washington, D.C. and you will be overwhelmed at the references to God, our Creator, and His sovereignty in the affairs of men and His role in our nation.

How can a nation be truly Christian that rushes to the movie theaters to watch “The De Vinci Code,” that portrays Christ faking his death and resurrection, marrying a prostitute, and their descendents living among us today?

How long can a nation survive that sanctions homosexual marriage, when the Bible calls it a blatant sin, and every culture in the history of humankind that has accepted as normal, what the Bible calls, “an abomination,” has wound up on the trash heap of history?

How long will a righteous God tolerate such blasphemy as the recent portrayal of the Easter Story at a college campus drama in Texas where Jesus is shown to be gay and presides over the same sex marriage of two disciples. When he is crucified, the inscription nailed to the cross reads, “King of the Queers”?

How can a culture survive for long that finds nothing wrong with art that pictures the crucifix upside down in a glass of urine, and it is called, “The p--s Christ”?

Abortion, once a hot button issue, has now become so common that it is accepted as ordinary medical practice in most places. Be sure of this, the blood of millions of unborn innocents are upon the hands of a sinful nation.

It is significant that in 2009, the White House decided to observe a non-religious Christmas, and for the first time in anyone’s memory, the President of the United States and his family did not attend any religious services during the Christmas season. Shortly thereafter a delegation of atheists were hosted at the President’s residence and given a most respectful welcome.

What is one to conclude when the President of the USA states that we are not a “Christian nation,” and subsequently when he spoke at a major Christian university, the name “Jesus” that appeared behind the speaker’s podium was covered with a black sheet? Please do not accuse me of politics, or racism. This is not a Democrat or Republican matter, it is a right and wrong issue; in your heart you know it, (or, you should know it).

What are we to believe, when a patriot makes a speech stating the need for “Divine Intervention” at this critical juncture in the affairs of this nation, and the media commentators fall all over themselves ridiculing the statement?

I can think of no other time in history when this scripture is more relevant; “Save yourselves from this untoward generation” (Acts 2:40).

The moral plague that infects the globe today did not originate with the headhunters in the Amazon rain forests, nor the tribal areas of the deepest jungles of Asia, South America, Africa, or Haitian Voodoo; nor from the capitols of such rogue regimes as communist North Korea, and Islamic Iran, but, from America. Please think not that I am unpatriotic. I love America. I love my country enough to warn it, even when the ministry of awareness is not popular today in most places. Too many are stuck in a time warp, living in the past, while others are deceived by prosperity and “kingdom now” theology. The word of God still rings true today, “Prepare to meet thy God” (Amos 4:12). “Righteousness exalteth a nation, but, sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34).

When blind patriotism causes one to ignore the wickedness of his people, it is foolhardy; when the watchman fails to see the sword coming, it is fatal. “But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand” (Ezekiel 33:6).

The United States of America was founded upon Judaeo-Christian principals, and our forefathers were definitely God-fearing. Do not buy the re-write of history that they were only secularist and anti-monarchists. Go to the web site, Wallbuilders.com, and see for yourself the volumes of proof that verify our country’s true origin.

Yes, there have been mistakes in our nation’s history; the mistreatment of the American Indian, slavery, taking advantage of the poor; but, it was always the Christian community that led the way out of those dark periods. Thank God for missionaries to the Indians, and the measure of restraint brought to bear by Christians, otherwise the American Indians would have become extinct. Thank God for Christian abolitionists who, worked tirelessly forming the under-ground railroad to free the enslaved; wrote books, preached sermons, and never ceased crying out against injustice until it moved political mountains throughout the land. My great-grandfather’s health was broken for the rest of his life while fighting for Abraham Lincoln’s Union during the American Civil War. A souvenir of his service that I inherited is one of the most cherished displays in my office.

Thank God that a Christian-principled heart beat in the chest of Dr. Martin Luther King, otherwise, relative to the long simmering tensions that prevailed in our nation, during the turbulent 1960’s and 70’s, there could have been another civil war if the day had been won by racial radicals on either side.

Considering the falling away that we are now witnessing, perhaps the President’s statement that the USA is not a Christian nation is more true than we would like to admit?

I propose that because of the USA’s prominence in the real world, and the degree of its recent decline, it is now the world’s greatest missions field!

The Polish hero, Lech Walesa, the common laborer, who scaled the wall at the Gdansk, Poland, ship yard in the early 1970’s, thus beginning a peaceful revolution that ultimately toppled communism in Eastern Europe, and who later became the president of a free Poland, has said: “The United States is only one superpower. Today they lead the world, militarily and economically. Nobody has doubts about it. But, they are getting weak. The USA does not lead morally and politically anymore. The world has no leadership. The United States was always the last resort and hope for all other nations. There was the hope, whenever something was going wrong, one could count on the USA. Today, we have lost that hope.”

I have traveled around the world twice. I have been to Asia over 30 times, and to Africa more that a dozen times. I have lost count of my visits to Europe and Latin America. I have seen up close those cultures, formed and shaped by non-Christian religions and Godless political philosophies; without exception there is poverty, bondage, oppression and overall heaviness. I am grieved when I see America rushing to adopt the failed political philosophies of those regressive nations. I am doubly grieved when I see temples and idolatrous shrines being built across the landscape of America, planting the accursed seeds of paganism, heathenism, and apostacy. I have seen up close what those religions have failed to do for the people in the lands of their origins, and now they take advantage of our liberties here, that would never be granted to Christians in their own oppressive countries, to build their places of worship in America that will only lead us to the same results here as in those unfortunate places. There is a reason why nations and cultures rich in natural resources and talent wallow in misery. They do not, and can not, share in the blessings that the psalmist testified of; “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalms 33:12).

Of late, there have been a number of media discussions, and editorials, relative to the “decline of the USA”, even questioning the heretofore unimaginable, an eventual fall and break-up of the USA. These are the statements of some of the most knowledgeable political experts of our day. There are multiple signs of a nation in decline. The same symptoms now exist that have preceded the fall of many earlier nations, who in their day of greatness, no one would have dared believed that they would one day be a mere foot-note in history.

The apostle Paul said, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,: for it the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…” (Romans 1:16). Is it not reasonable to expect that the gospel we preach should resemble what Paul preached?

Would Christ have been crucified if he would have preached what we preach? Is what we are living for worth what he died for?

Indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” – C.S. Lewis

There have been two recent events in the USA, among many, that are indicators of our culture’s decline. (1) During a very public debate in California over the matter of “gay marriage,” the pastor of one of America’s largest churches and a best selling author, very openly opposed the “gay referendum” being put to vote. Subsequently, when he and his church came under extreme pressure from the “gay community,” who protested in front of his church, he backed away from his position; he went to great lengths to assure the gay community of his friendship and respect for them, stating the same on a nationwide TV talk show. When a Miss USA beauty pageant contestant, was asked, by a gay pageant judge, what was her take on gay marriage, she politely answered that she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman. She instantly became the center of a national fire-storm of debate and roundly criticized for her answer. It was commonly believed that until that point she was the front runner in the pageant and favored to win, but, her answer cost her the crown. A gay pageant judge commented that he voted against her and if she had won he would have run onto the stage and pulled the crown off the “b----‘s head.”

(2) When a world renown sports hero was caught up in a widely publicized scandal, a well-known TV news anchor commented that the fallen sports hero, (who is not a Christian), should turn to Christ. The TV commentator was openly castigated for even suggesting that anyone need to turn to Christ for redemption. The nationally respected news anchor did not back down, he responded: “The two most explosive words in the world today, is ‘Jesus Christ’.”

I pray that we preachers, and lay witnesses, of the greatest message ever offered to the world, would be provoked to action by the deeds of a beauty pageant contestant, and a news anchor. We are the ones who should be the trumpets sounding the alarm to a declining nation, stating the need for safe boundaries in personal living, and exalting the name of “Jesus Christ”!

“For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?” (I Corinthians 14:8)

“The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?” (Jeremiah 5:31)

Churches don’t need new members half as much as they need the old bunch made over. There wouldn’t be so many non-church goers if there were not so many non-going churches. Too many churches are little more than four walls and a roof.” – Billy Sunday

Within the Apostolic movement, I see polarization; some are withdrawing to radical positions on private interpretations, relative to personal disciplines and pet doctrines, making their message irrelevant to our time. Others have sold their birthright, merging with mainline non-denominationals;...“emergents” they call themselves. As the noted revivalist Leonard Ravenhill has said; “The church has paid a high price for numbers”. May I respectfully remind you of the outcome when the first church, born on the Day of Pentecost, immersed in the Apostle’s Doctrine, baptized with the Holy Ghost, eventually merged with Rome/Babylon. Do we want Fatal Progress?

Think about what it means to be without spot or wrinkle. We know a spot is a stain. But what about a wrinkle? Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘a new wrinkle’? It means adding a new idea to an existing concept. A wrinkle, in that sense, applies to those who try to improve on the gospel. It suggests an easy way to attain heaven, without full surrender to Christ” - David Wilkerson

Jesus said; “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid” (Matthew 5:14). I fear that many of us have become dim lights in an increasingly dark world.

Everyone, worldwide, who adheres to any form of Pentecostalism, credits the events at Azusa Street in 1906 as the epicenter of the promised global outpouring in the “last days”. There was a prophecy of warning given at that time; “In the last days there will be emphasis on the power of God over the righteousness of God; they will praise a God whom they no longer pray to; and will lift the gifts of the Spirit above the Lordship of Jesus Christ.” Dear Pentecostal, stop and think, and let that soak in.

We are playing church. We are so busy trying to be relevant to the world that we have become just like the world….AND the world is not impressed.” – Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Prosperity and self improvement sell, the world loves it, but they already have their “life coaches”; Dr. Phil, Oprah, Dave Ramsay to name a few. The world needs preachers to preach the Biblical Gospel. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36) Certainly our Lord established divine priority when he said; “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head” (Luke 9:58).

We are not called to proclaim philosophy and metaphysics, but the simple gospel. Man’s fall, his need of a new birth, forgiveness through atonement, and salvation as the result of faith, these are our battle-axe and weapons of war.” – C.H. Spurgeon

The weakness of so many modern Christians is that they feel too much at home in the world. In their effort to achieve restful adjustment to unregenerate society they have lost their pilgrim character and become an essential part of the very moral order against which they are sent to protest. The world recognizes them and accepts them for what they are. And this is the saddest thing that can be said about them. They are not lonely, but neither are they saints.” – A. W. Tozer

America the beautiful, founded upon biblical principles that no one can factually dispute. The constitutions of every state in the union, start with allegiance to “God… the Almighty…the Creator,…the Supreme being.” Walk through the halls of the great government buildings in our nation’s capitol and you will see myriads of quotes from the Bible and sayings of the founding fathers testifying to their faith in, and their devotion to, the Supreme Being.

It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and the Bible.” – George Washington

I believe the Bible is the best gift God has ever given to man. All the good from the Saviour of the world is communicated to us through this book.” – Abraham Lincoln

The youth of America, tagged “generation X,” are having a difficult time finding themselves in a world with few boundaries and even less absolutes; they are wandering through the formative years of their lives in one mass social experiment, unsure how it will play out. The Bible has the answer; “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Adults of the 21st century are obsessed with money, pleasure and reaching their life’s goals at any cost. Along the way time proven spiritual landmarks have fallen by the wayside; surely the scripture is fulfilled in our day, “…for truth is fallen in the street,” (Isaiah 59:14).

Multitudes of America’s youth have been reared in homes where there has been little or no time for church, and/or the churches they attend have bought into the modernist/post-modernist philosophies that have compromised the message of Christ. Thus, we have a generation of youth without spiritual foundations sufficient to defend against the godless theory of evolution; the intimidation by unbelievers; the subtle message of rock music; the decadent examples of Hollywood stars and their craft that sink ever deeper into the pits of debauchery, drugs, illicit sex, and gratuitous violence. And we wonder why there are school shootings, teen devil worshippers, almost universal pre-marital sex, and abortions? Their tolerance and attraction to violence is alarming! They have no problem with gay marriage, and are less than concerned about the rise of worldwide Islam. It all goes back to the lack of spiritual foundations. America needs a revival!

Just when you think it cannot get any worse, a university campus club offers a new program; “Trade in your Bibles for porn.”

The “new age” progressives are bent on removing nativity scenes and Christmas carols from Christmas; prayer from schools; mention of God and His commandments from our buildings; biblical standards from our society; and all records of our godly heritage from school textbooks.

The following is written by Judge Roy Moore, the Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice who was forced out of his judgeship because he refused to remove the Ten Commandments from the lobby of his state’s Supreme Court Building. Take heed, the Alabama case is just one instance in the growing anti-Christian movement in America.

America the beautiful, or so you used to be.
Land of the Pilgrim’s pride; I’m glad they’ll never see.

Babies piled in dumpsters, abortion on demand,
Oh, sweet land of liberty; your house is on the sand.

Our children wander aimlessly poisoned by cocaine,
Choosing to indulge their lusts, when God has said abstain.

From sea to shining sea, our Nation turns away,
From the teaching of God’s love and a need to always pray.

We’ve kept God in our temples, how callous we have grown.
When earth is but his footstool, and Heaven is His throne.

We’ve voted in a government that’s rotting at the core,
Appointing Godless Judges: and throw reason out the door.

Too soft to place a killer in a well deserved tomb,
But brave enough to kill a baby before he leaves the womb.

You think that God’s not angry, that our land’s a moral slum?
How much longer will He wait before His judgment comes?

How are we to face our God, from Whom we cannot hide?
What then is left for us to do, but stem this evil tide?

If we who are His children, will humbly turn and pray;
Seek His holy face and mend our evil way:

Then God will hear from Heaven; and forgive us our sin,
He’ll heal our sickly land and those who live within.

But, America the Beautiful, if you don’t – then you will see,
A sad but Holy God withdraw His hand from Thee.

America, has become the world’s greatest, latest Missions field. Pray for a national revival. Pray that the Lord will deal with your heart,… to do your part.

Our beloved Lord Jesus left us with these words, “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh the harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).
