Homegoing Service for Bishop D. Rayford Bell, Saturday, October 5, 2013
July 9, 1923 - September
In Memory of our Beloved
Dr. D. Rayford Bell
The AWCF is sad to inform the
fellowship of the passing of one of the true giants of this Apostolic era.
Bishop D. Rayford Bell. He was one of the last members of the original founders
of the AWCF. He was a legend in our time.
Bishop D. Rayford Bell went home to be with the Lord while preaching his
sermon Sunday at Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church. It is reported that
Bishop Bell collapsed just 10
minutes after he began his homily.
Dr. Bell was the pastor and then
senior pastor of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church since 1958. He was also a Chicago Police
Department chaplain and the founder of a Chicago Bible College and a church in
Joliet. Bishop Bell
preached all over the United States and in 50 countries. He recently celebrated
his 90th birthday.
Bishop Dennis Rayford Bell was
born on July 9, 1923 in Mississippi. In April 1949, Dr. Bell served as
Presiding Bishop of the Pentecostal Churches of the Apostolic Faith from January
1990 - July 2000. He also served as the Overseer of the Executive Board of the
Apostolic World Christian Fellowship.
As senior pastor of Christ
Temple Apostolic Faith Church for 49 years, his motto was "He is Apostolic
across the fence, behind the barn and everywhere."
Bishop Bell's life has been
one of serving the church and the community. His primary joy was sharing the
life and saving grace of Jesus Christ with others. He will forever be missed.
