A CALL TO ACTION: An Awakening is Critical
by Bishop Samuel Smith

“Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If there is decay of conscience, the pulpit isresponsible for it. If the press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church isdegenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses interest in Christianity, thepulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.” - Charles H. Spurgeon, the prolific famed 19 century clergyman, called by many,
“The Prince of Preachers”.

The following should provoke every God-called clergyman to prayer and action:

1…Public schools are destroying the faith of Christian children, and the pulpits are silent.
2…Children are taught they came from apes, and the pulpits are silent.
3…Millions of children are “medicated” to control their behavior, and the pulpits are silent.
4…Gambling is promoted to pay for schools, and the pulpits are silent.
5…Precious babies are being murdered in the womb, and the pulpits are silent.
6…Obama says the Sermon on the Mount justifies gay marriage, and the pulpits are silent.
7…Faith-based initiatives invite the government into the church, and the pulpits are silent.
8…The IRS muzzles the voice of the church, and the pulpits are silent.
9…The church locks arms with compassionate-conservatism, and the pulpits are silent.
10..Children’s service agencies separate family members, and the pulpits are silent.
11..Self-help books replace the Bible, and the pulpits are silent.
12..The book, “A Purpose Driven Life” is elevated above dying to self, and the pulpits are silent.
13..George W. Bush says Christians and Muslims worship the same God, and the pulpits are silent.
14..The U.S. Constitution is ignored, and the pulpits are silent.
15..Our elected officials lie and steal, and the pulpits are silent.
16..Private property is stolen by the government, and the pulpits are silent.
17..Mother Earth is protected more than Father God is defended, and the pulpits are silent.
18..The entertainment industry celebrates debauchery, and the pulpits are silent.

Almighty God has charged His called and commissioned ministry: “But if the watchman see the swordcome, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any personfrom among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand” (Ezekiel 33:6).

“Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not astraw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up thekingdom of heaven on earth. God does nothing but in answer to prayer.” John Wesley
