Bishop Michael Boyd

Bishop Michael Lynn Boyd was born in Davenport, Iowa and is the second of seven children born to the late honorable Bishop Melvin Boyd and Sister Carol A. Boyd. He was baptized in Jesus’ name at age 6 and filled with the Holy Ghost at age 9. Bishop Boyd has been saved for over 51 years. He has served in many capacities in the church, from his youth up, including Junior Choir, Junior Usher, Choir Director, Drum Player, Junior Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent (over 16 years), also as an Official Board member of the church. Bishop Boyd is an avid supporter of the Nashville community having served as Chairman of the Metro Citizen’s Advisory Committee. His Christian business prowess has earned him respect where he serves as a member of the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce. Bishop Boyd is likewise a member of the Tennessee Governor’s Prayer Alliance which meets weekly at the Tennessee State Capitol where he is frequently called upon to lead prayer.
 
Being an Apostolic servant of God, he received a call in 2004 to assist a group of saints in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, approximately 360 in number. Bishop Boyd presented Apostolic teaching, and by God’s grace, established church structure. Within seven years, this small band of saints grew into over 4,000 members all of which are now divided into 16 churches with 19 Pastors. All of these churches are part of the extended ministry and work of Grace Apostolic Church, with Bishop Boyd being the General Overseer. Bishop Boyd has likewise established a home and school for fatherless and motherless children which educates, feeds, clothes, and houses hundreds of children. Bishop Michael Boyd named this facility after his father which is called Dr. Melvin Boyd Charity Home. The Lord blessed Bishop Michael Boyd to establish another work in Lagos, Nigeria, South Africa in the year 2006. In the year 2010, he officially named this particular ministry Saved by Grace Pentecostal Apostolic Church. Additionally, Bishop Boyd sought to strengthen the united work with Christ Abundant Life Crusade Ministries in Nairobi, Kenya that his father began. Under the administration of Bishop Melvin Boyd, Grace Apostolic Church financed a building project that established five churches. To-date, the Kenya work has over 245 churches. In August of 2010, God blessed Bishop Michael Boyd to author his first book, “Rebuilding Lives through the Spirit.” This particular book has circulated around the country and overseas. At this same time, Bishop Boyd was blessed to receive his Doctor of Theology degree. In November 2014, Bishop Boyd was appointed as State Director of the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship of Tennessee. In August 2015, he was consecrated and elevated to the office of Bishop in the Apostolic World Christian Fellowship. Bishop Boyd also serves as the Regional Bishop of the Tennessee/Mid-East Region of the International Christian Apostolic Fellowship.
 
In October 2018, God blessed Bishop Boyd to enlarge on the vision given to him and released his second edition of “Rebuilding Lives through the Spirit” along with a workbook. A number of churches have utilized Bishop Boyd’s writings for Vacation Bible School and Bible Class series. In the year 2022, the Lord blessed Bishop Boyd to become founder of Dr. Michael L. Boyd Learning Academy in Monrovia, Liberia. Bishop Boyd has been in the ministry for over 36 years and served as administrative assistant to his father in the daily administration of the church. On June 9, 2003, the mantle of Pastoral leadership was passed from the late and honorable Bishop Melvin Boyd to his son, Bishop Michael L. Boyd, to continue the rich and godly legacy widely known across this nation. Through the years, Bishop Boyd had been groomed by his father/Pastor and became well-seasoned and spiritually focused in the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. Bishop Boyd has been married to the lovely Sister Julia Boyd for over 35 years. They have two sons, both of whom are married and are saved. They have five grandchildren. Bishop Boyd is dedicated to prayer, praise, teaching, and preaching. Both his mission and motto are “Rebuilding Lives through the Spirit.”
