In Memoriam: Pastor Bob Huerta

In Memoriam: Pastor Bob Huerta

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” - Matthew 25:21

The Apostolic World Christian Fellowship solemnly celebrates the life and eternal reward of Pastor Bob Huerta, a tireless laborer in the harvest of God, our South America Coordinator in the AWCF, lead pastor of Jubilee Christian Centre, missionary to Ecuador, and steadfast shepherd of the Apostolic faith. Pastor Bob transitioned into the presence of the LORD on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

A Pastor to Nations

Pastor Bob Huerta served as Lead Pastor at Jubilee Christian Centre since 1981, having first served as assistant pastor from 1970 to 1974. During that time, he launched a Spanish-speaking congregation to meet the growing needs of Elgin's Hispanic community. His calling, however, extended far beyond local borders.

In the 1970s, he and his wife, Sis. Phylis Dunlap-Huerta, moved to Ecuador as missionaries, founding Bible colleges and helping establish churches across the nation.

He pastored in Santo Domingo de los Colorados, and later, the headquarters church in Quito. Recognizing the need for biblical education among leaders with limited resources, he developed a reading-based Bible training program to help equip even the most remote pastors with tools to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

A Builder, a Shepherd, a Father

With ministerial credentials dating back to 1968 and ordination in 1971, Pastor Huerta poured over five decades into preaching, teaching, planting, and pastoring. He held a B.A. in Theology from New Life Christian College and a B.A. in Business Management from Judson University. He also pursued further study at Wheaton College.

He was not only a leader of churches, but also a spiritual father to many. His voice was known for its peace, his counsel for its wisdom, and his presence for its strength. He was often described as a "second father" to those he mentored and baptized. His encouragement lifted saints in seasons of doubt, and his example challenged others to press forward in the Spirit.

A Life Lived for the Gospel

Pastor Bob was a true "fisher of men" (Matthew 4:19). His messages were not only well-prepared and biblically sound, but deeply personal and transformative. He mentored leaders, built ministries, and served the global Body of Christ with distinction. His legacy includes countless salvations, deliverances, baptisms, and ministers equipped for the work of the Kingdom.

He passed away surrounded by family, worship, and prayer. As one loved one wrote, "He was simply the best."

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:21
